Ruthsland Map
The Harsington Wyverns series takes its characters all over Ruthsland, but Book One stays mostly in the center of this map.
Fire’s Valley
Ruthsland’s largest country, home to Harsington and most of the story’s main characters. The valley people command different elements: wildlife, earth, weather, and water. Jack Leon, the reigning monarch, wields a power called dreamfire.
The Silver Hills
Home to the faeries, nestled in towering mountains and secluded from the rest of the world. Ruthsland’s most powerful sorcerers train here. At night, a mineral in the soil sparkles in the starlight, which is where the country gets its name.
The Living Plains
A vast, flat country inhabited by shapeshifting, metal-skinned people called spriggans. The spriggans are fiercely defensive of their borders, but their enormous libraries are open to anybody who can prove themselves dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge.
Shade’s Forest
The canopy here has grown so thick that the forest floor is cast in perpetual twilight. Its residents are dangerous creatures protected from would-be hunters by a sorceress. The shades themselves emit an energy called the frost, which induces psychological paralysis in its victims.

Caleb
Born with a debilitating childhood illness, Caleb was taken to see a faery doctor. The doctor was able to save his life, but the process severed him from the elements. He grew up in his brother Jamie’s shadow, hiding abilities that he’ll never be able to control.
______________________
Henry
One of the most talented wildlife elementals at Harsington Academy. He can speak with animals and command some of the most difficult plants on Ruthsland, but he would have flunked out of school ages ago without Caleb to tutor him through his academics.
______________________
Vadim
A shade prince with a gift for troublemaking. The sorceress occasionally lets him out of the forest to wreak havoc in Harsington, but he is otherwise trapped there, slowly losing track of who he was before he became a shade. Worse than the memory loss, for him, is the boredom.
______________________
Dorothy
The sorceress’s most trusted confidant in Shade’s Forest. Dorothy has the longest attention span of any shade in Ruthsland, and leads most of their missions into Harsington. Her wit and her knack for learning magic have made her useful to the sorceress, but Dorothy has begun to worry that useful is all she’ll ever be.

Sawyer
Former Crown Princess of Ruthsland. Sawyer abdicated her position after a falling out with her family. She intends to make a future for herself outside the throne room, but some of the people she has left behind are not ready to let her go.

Amir
The faery doctor’s most reliable wyvern. He goes every day to the sorceress’s wall and tries to find a way in. His ambition and work ethic make him a vaulable asset to each of his many causes. They also serve as a wonderful distraction from how much he misses the world he left behind.
